D>A: shoot 2 small balls;
D>A + back: hold and shoot a big ball

We need a frame to animate the character going back to his normal stance after shooting the big ball.

Edit: added a defence state to his charging frame.

There are some cons to this technique:
- it seems impossible to animate his charging with this method. You're always in the same frame
- you have to be pretty quick with your input, you only have like half a second to press 'back'. Else you'll just shoot 2 regular balls.
- to give some time to press 'back' right after D>A, I had to increase the 'wait' of the first 2 frames. In other words, the 2 fast balls are fired relatively slow

With these cons, I don't think we should make it like this. We could:
- Change the smaller balls;
- Delink the 2 moves;
- Make the first ball fast, and if you press back, you charge the bigger ball (note: this will make the first ball useless in battle the way it is now! As you use the first ball for short distance, and the 2nd for long distance, the first ball will never hit unless we change it)

^ Some things to consider...
Perhaps we should leave out the big ball for Nino and only have him shoot the 2 smaller ones. I'm pretty sure we can use the bigger ball for another character if we edit it a bit.
As for the dash attack that gets linked to his bigger ball: the idea is neat, yet I am not even so sure if it is possible anymore. I knew you were able to have ball move have a diffirent effect on diffirent characters, but that technique was invented for diffirent effects on opponents. I don't know any techniques that connect your own melee attack with a special attack of your own. I figured this out a bit too late ><


By the way, what have you guys decided at the hangout (I couldn't hear you guys talk in the end :p)

If we do this, perhaps we should change the smaller balls also. It is weak now, but it also looks weak.. we could make it look like this but a little bit bigger (like 25% bigger or something):

How about this:

I hope you guys have enough imagination as I don't have time to draw it at the moment... Here's the idea: Nino charges a ball close to his body, or gathers energy from around him. He doesn't shoot the ball however. Instead, he absorbs the power from the ball (or the sky) and does either a powered-up 1-hit melee attack, a power rush with multiple kicks, or an AoE attack.

Just something to add - It would be for his D>J. Nino is pretty good at one-VS-one fighting, but he's really bad at fighting multiple enemies. Therefor, he needs a powerful kick such as this one to be balanced (else he'd be underpowered). The basic idea is: charge + strong kick with relatively big AoE (as for as it goes for a kick)

I like the idea.. but i want to talk about animation itself. When his legs raach the top that line that shows leg movement is out placed. It has wrong angle. It should be more vertical to have common sense. Now it's mind blowing to look at it because it apears like leg travlled big sinuosity in short time.

I like the concept of this char, but the are a couple of things that are bothering me and I would like to mention:

* I'm not really sure if it's the color palette or the contrast, but he looks way too colorful/bright when you compare him with the others chars of this mod (I'm looking at Memento's signature).

* The head and the face seem rather squished to me. It's specially noticeable in the standing face, which is the principal face. However, in other frames (like punching) it's ok. In some movement frames the head is extremely small compared to the body (23 and 117, for example).

* In the standing frames, the way the legs and feet are placed is awkward. Also, imo, they shouldn't move at all when breathing... technically, the legs can flex a little, but the feet should stay more or less in the same place.

I guess we can fix easily fix those things once the character is finished. Its just copy/paste for a big part. I think we should do this later though. Would be good if we could finish up this character's sprites now, we're so close. Perhaps Arcane could sprite his D>J and Ariel finishes the final concepts for the general?
