Thanks to the fatal boredom I'm suffering these days, I've decided to try some LF mods and write some stuff about them for those who would not move a finger to try any mod themselves
May add in future if I'd feel for it
LF2 Mega (Click to View)
So the first review is about modification named LF2 mega made by anonymous modder ( probably from China ). I've chosen to review this mod because of the really interesting name, and also because of fact I've had it installed already and found it by "mistake".
After the successfull loading, I've as usually wanted to try stuff which this modification offers. At first I checked vs. After staring around 2 seconds at character selection menu with a few changes, I ran a game with 8 randoms ( 1 me, rest coms ). All characters from lf2 were in match. They wear the same rags as in lf2, but most of their skills were changed or replaced. Skills these regular characters were doing were a little messing up with datachanger, I didn't see nearly any new sprites or redrawn things.
After I've checked new characters added to mod. One of them was like Louis, and the other was recoloured Firzen.
So the first I took was Firzen. I can't say his name because it was just a couple of unknown signs. Against me I chose that Louis thing with helm. Name again only a few unidentifiable signs. The first thing that really got me was that character was moving in a square, a real rarity amongst rarities.
So the battle began and I tried some stuff of this Firzen. After first random combination invoking a kick, which missed 1/2 of all frames, I created a green dragon with annoying sound ; fire dragon I saw in another +- 5 mods ; few shadows flying at Louis and after reaching him, a few things looking like bolts hit him and a summon of blue sword.
After fight I changed sides and I took that Louis. Again I had to laugh because of some skills, which looked well... Fire tornado. I recognized it probably only because it was red, and what is red in modification makes characters burn.
Well then I put in lf2.net cheat and tried to find some other new characters. Not much of a change though - one new Firzen and sub/boss characters from original version.
Well I chose that new Firzen and ran game. His skills are as weird as most of new stuff in this modification.
Incredible... Who would have thought that pink-white thing actually heals him. Most of his skills were overpowered and ... ugly.
Well the last character I was playing with was Hunter. After that I had enough of vs. For exchange, I was surprised with skills of hunter, they looked like ripped from other mods though.
The last thing I tried was stage. Characters have attacked immediately.
They just kept on talking, and I couldn't understand anyway because of language barrier. After while they just fell and died, without any obvious reasons (only if translantation of stuff they said was something like - go right, and now please excuse me, I was attacked from the inside. Ouch...). Then some bandits came and and stage was passable. I didn't really play stage, it was ... weird. I just set stage 5 for some action. Right at the beginning was talking Julian. After three speech bubbles he remained standing there and nothing else happened. I waited a sec but then I gave it up and set stage 4, but after that I finally understood that stages 2-5 are not playable.
At last I just took a look at logo ( which looked as bad as the whole modification ).
Pluses/minuses
+ nice health bars
- no balance, some characters can simply own other characters
- made in chinese language
- no fun
I'd give it 40% / 100% because they were at least trying.

X-Power Little Fighter Omega (Click to View)
I chose my favourite mod X-Power Little Fighter Omega, shortly XLF Omega, made by Sten as second mod about which I'll write some stuff. Of course the main problems about this mod is space requirement and also it eats lotsa RAM.
Well I started it... what a surprise. Then I cliked at GAME START with probably biggest cursor I’ve ever seen .
Game loaded ( after enourmously long loading ) and I began fooling around and got to character selection menu ( I’ll skip the part as I had to quit game, set controls and run game again ). So as usually I set match for 8 randoms, and ... well, let’s say, 8 face pictures made by someone studying modern abstarct art popped up.
Well, who cares about face pics..? I launched game and watched carefully what will happen. I was controlling a thing looking like a mutation of Firen and Mark. After trying some attacks and staring at stuff going on in battle, I was very surprised. Anywhere I looked, stuff I’ve never ever seen before was going on. New solid sprites of characters, new great looking skills, new background, new sounds... just everything. But the most important, after fighting with nearly every regular character, I couldn’t register any overpowereness of characters. Gameplay was balanced. Some screens :
Gameplay of this mod is unique.
Every character can :
- heal himself (same as John’s way of healing)
- use a special attack
- use skill which makes everything around him disappear (which costs nearly full mana)
- invoke a stance (repeating of invoking stance regenerates MP - can be bug or part of gameplay).
Also skills for characters were invented to let player to do unlimited amount of combos.
Some examples:
The next thing to go through was stage. I was again surprised that it was modified as well. At first a few E.T's attacked me, so I got that probably this stage is not meant to have story. Shortly new coloured E.T's with guns came. This way continued stage until stage 1 part 5, where I fought as well 2 regular characters and reached end. Next 3 stages are made nearly same way, except that these sub chars attacked in bigger groups and in last level there was a boss character as well. Stage 5 was a fight with boss. Probably the best boss fight made in lf2 modification.
After beating him cheat code was revealed... but well, it didn't work I had to download one tool to change code, after that I could finally test boss and sub chars. Found there around 10 nearly same looking E.T's, 4 boss chars, 1 character in EX form and 1 secret character. These characters were made as impressively as regular characters, though of course their skills were a lot more powerfull.
Okay guess I said only nessesary. This mod is one of the best mods to be out for sure. Also it's one of not many modifications which have changed absolutely everything, from cursor at starting game to PAUSE showing when you press F1.
Pluses/minuses
+ Balanced, unique and ... just great gameplay
+ Read previous
+ Read previous
- Annoying sounds. Too loud and irritating when nearly every skill you
cast means another shout
- Barrel. This weapon added to game really changes it to little... worse.
If you hit it, it can take really a lot of HP and because there are not
many weapons, it falls often.
- First 100 Hp lost is invisible at health bars.
- Not working cheat code
So after summary I'd give this mod 90%/100%

X-Little Fighter 2 (Click to View)
The name of this mod is so incredibly original that I was not that far from heart attack after successfull reading of it. Anyway, I survived so after gaining back consciousness from the shock I suffered, I gave this mod a try. This time i’ll skip the part about how I forgot to set controls before starting it.
Recoloured menus and loading screen ... impressive. So vs was set and everything ready for the first match. Face pictures of characters were awful (soz but couldn’t think of badass metaphors).
Well, great... so i pressed this FlGHT!!!!! button (looks really awesome with those „!!!!!“).
Me and one com appeared in really interesting background... black squares and green lines.
So I came closer to that guy I was supposed to annihilate... and punched. That was one hell of a mistake because my reproductors were set on quite high volume and an ultraloud „PEW“ came out with every hit.
Skills were quite nice, never seen any of them in any other modification. However most of them were supported with those evil PEW-like sounds.
Characters in match look fine, uncomparable with their character selection pictures even though most of them have faces (few whole body) from lf2. Still never seen them before anywhere.
Mentionworthy is also stuff falling from heaven (exactly fried chickens, some fruit, bread or whatever...) which replenish health when standing close to it (animation looks somewhat like that food is forced into the character)
Next thing to try was stage. So I pressed this FlGHT!!!!! button awaiting chinese speech bubbles to pop up. Well I was wrong. Shortly after start some templates ran in and without any reason started to punch me. Upon their annihilation another templates just kept on coming... whole five stages. There were a few varieties of those templates and each did it’s own stuff. It may sound little weird that whole stage is made of fights with templates (very occasionally someone else)... well it is weird, but even though it was probably the best overpowered stage I‘ve ever played.
Cheat code remained same as in lf2. Typing it made possible to play any of templates from stage and also a few characters who were too powered to be in normal character selection.
Obviously this mod was meant to be overpowered, which is auto-dontlike by most of players of lf2. Even though, it’s probably the best existing overpowered modification. The way sounds and skills and just about everything in mod makes me think this was meant to be a parody of lf2.
+/–
+ Unique gameplay
+ Awesome sounds
+ FlGHT!!!!! button
+ Plusworthy stage
- Really impressive name of mod
- Sounds are not really awesome
Final rating:75%/100%
