Let me guess: you took that image from Google (or any website), put it into a folder, adjusted a few numbers, and submitted it, right?
Come on, you can spend more than a few mins on a background. Making BGs is comparably fast, creating a spritesheet for a character from scratch takes roughly 40-100 hours + DCing with a couple more hours. When you make a background, you can at least invest an hour in it.
With that being said, let's get to the details: I don't have anything against single-layered backgrounds if they're made well and I must say that the picture quality is relatively good. However, the ground should be more even, Dennis for example seems to stand where there shouldn't be anything to stand on. The ground is waaaay too rough. Check the original backgrounds for reference and you'll see what I mean. I also wonder if you thought about the black bars on top and bottom of the bg...
