they save your taskbar and xp can't run without them(faster than opening the start menu etcetctec...)- that's why my desktop has so many icons, and they usually pile until i delete most of them or put them in the folder: blah.

You don't even have to reveal your desktop to start your favorite apps :P

well some of us don't... we have more stuff than DC-ing, GFX-ing, Spriting to do. like i- well i don't :P. everything's in folders, and a folder has to go somewhere accessible.
