As a specific 'you' or a general 'you'?

I still do most of that, except now i draw the faces at 4x that, as trickity suggested in his tutorials
Just choose a 1-2px brush and draw the outlines, colour it in a layer underneath, and then shade with at least 4 shades (prerably 2 light shades, and 2 dark), and add a gradient background at the end.
Use the eraser if the outlines get wobbly or rough. (just my method, under no account am i saying you have to adopt this method. Unique styles are always cool)
