LF2 used to be a phenomenon in Hong Kong, no joke. Everyone I knew at school would at least know it and over half played it.
Other than graphics and gameplay, one of the reasons of it's runaway success is because it's small enough to be downloaded and installed quickly. Then when I came to England, a couple of my friends from Singapore and even South Korea know about it surprisingly.
So I guess the main reason why quite a few of the people I know personally have played the game before is not only because of the geographical issue, but also to do with the age of those I normally socialise with. It's a game that's more "my era".
