Sure, but it has to be something that you pick up and hold as a weapon throughout the main-stages.
Some mod had something similar, I think.
If you beat a stage, there was a key at the end, and with it you could unlock a treasure with a very mighty sword in the next stage. Pretty cool idea if you ask me.
