Very well-said. The animation is good enough for my tastes, and finishing up the char within a reasonable time would certainly compensate it ;)

As for the face-pic, I'm pretty sure that creating an LF2-styled version can be created if you would like to (*looking to prince_freeza :p*). It would be just a shame to have a completely new character (with great sprites, if I may add this) and not have a fitting face-pic.
