What if a Mafia member poses as a Sheriff and contradicts me?

And even we lynch Nave and find out he's innocent, it could also mean that I am a Mafia posing as a Sheriff and just lied about checking a player, since I obviously know who isn't Mafia.

Not really. I thought about this carefully. Let's see...

*Real sheriff knows you're usurping his role/desperate mafia is desperate, and he appears here. Then we know there's someone lying.
*We don't kill any of you, and in the night, doctors save both (it may be problematic as doctor must know who to save, I may have to get PMs from them). Thus the real sheriff, whoever he is, won't die.
*I tell both of you to check me, and tell me my role in the next day round. First one to post my real identity is the real sheriff (or the real sheriff is stupid and will die first).
*Mafia gets killed.

It may needs some touchups, as mafia may try to kill me in that case, and I can't be saved by the trapper because he would kill the sheriff, but there's a way around I won't bother to explain. In any case, if someone starts talking we will find mafias soon anyway. Even if I die in the process.

It may get tricky if two other persons appear saying they're sheriffs, but in that case after killing the innocent we have two mafias and game over.
