Even though Az's VFM has a couple more features than Jiquera's, I strongly recommend to start out with the basic one. When you know what you're doing, you can go a step further and switch to the visual stuff as you will know what to expect.

As mentioned, check the mainsite, mess around with existing dat-files to find out what all these funky tags and values do, and learn from your mistakes. Nobody can be a pro right from their start.
