i suggest making jump a dodge move.
you know steve fox from tekken? make him dodge like that.
basically means:
jump=dash to the side+duck
plus attack=dash back and hit the opponent
instead of running he could also dash forward/backwards, though that may seem a bit unrealistic for a boxer (idk honestly)
since he wouldnt really need defend then, defend could be a little "upwards look"-state where he stays in one frame for a moment + attack or other key combinations make him punch upwards etc.
so this char would have pretty alternate controls (and would probably fail without hex-ai )
