Lack of transition frames make it look a bit stiff and awkward.

you are right - when i adjusted this years ago i did the whole thing without hitting an opponent and thus skipped the end of the spin to animate the whole kick before touching the ground
but if hitting an opponent davis does have more air time so i just reincluded the turning animation - much better

Well I wonder how you choose boss & minion for the stages. I kinda understand the stage 1, as it mostly features "urban" characters in a city-like environment. But stage 2...

i had to consider all good backgrounds available to me,
every lf2 character because everyone gets a different background/setting
and the fact that the player is supposed to kind of travel through this world

also these bosses aren't fixed to these places - they might be on the way through just like the player
