Firen is one of my fav characters 
Fully agree that he's not the best in terms of REGULAR PUNCH (+1 for the ones that get the reference), dash-attack, and whatnot. In fact, that's pretty euphemistic. However, the fact that his super-punch is, compared to the others, extremely long gives great combo-potential when you fight with a partner. Also, he's fast, not only his fireballs but also in terms of running-speed. And then his special attacks; they do quite nice damage and his burn-run is giving him a strong defense.
