No, it does not transform Xd It is because of its AI. It is not coded to use DJA while grabbing. The AI is programmed to only use A while grabbing. Maybe Marti and Starsky forgot about it or because it was too a hard task or just because they didn't want to do it.

They can also use J hence the throwing.
