Are you using the DLL which patches the exe to load PNG files?
If yes, then I believe he does not have that DLL.
Why would I say so?
Because images are stored in a different way in every image format. If you rename a .bmp to have a .PNG extension, the DLL will cause the lf2.exe to process the image in the PNG format. And thus it will work.
But if your friend does not have that DLL, then the BMP processing cannot load the image, which is encoded in the PNG format.
Alternatively, certain characters like "-" are not supported as filenames, try changing them to 1, 2, 3, 4 .......
