I prefer the gradient one, but I have some ideas for improvements:
- The inner blue border looks weird, the way it fades a way towards the (vertical) middle.
- The bottommost gradient is way too bright. The top one is maybe slightly too bright.
- Some of the blue color bleeds outside the black border.
- The rounding of the corners looks as if they belong to a smaller square, but that could be because of the of the previously mentioned bleeding.
Age ratings for movies and games (and similar) have never been a good idea.
One can learn a lot from reinventing wheels.
An unsound argument is not the same as an invalid one.
