Nope, your inventory items can be found on your status page to the right of your equipment. (Thus the 9 max size since it fits very nicely.)

#6: Sidekick Characters

A battlefield can be large and full of enemies, therefore our 8 main characters are in danger of simply being overrun.

So it is time to get an army of their own.

Sidekick Characters are recruitable characters (or they sometimes join themselves). They all get their own stats, levels, inventory and status pages, but they don't have their own skill trees (as compensation each of them will have a list of perks they can gain while travelling with the group). In battle they will join you and fight as your allies with the same rules as normal players. (They may or may not be directly controlled by the group - in any case it is possible to give them rough commands that they'll try to follow.) Obviously they will also benefit from group buffs.
However, Sidekick Characters may die forever. If they fall in combat and are not resurrected within a number of rounds, they cannot return. Ever. Therefore it is imperative to tactically position them to your advantage without sacrificing them all at once, else you will indeed be overrun in a later stage of the game.
