This was SO helpful. And you even took the trouble of taking pictures?
Thanks.
Yes, the reverb thing makes sense. I guess it just comes to you with experience
In the end, it did all come together beautifully.
THIS. This was extremely interesting.
I always struggle with making sound effects. But this gave me some ideas to experiment with, haha.
The most I've learnt is that you can never go wrong with experimenting
I think I'll look into some good, free third-party plugins that will help with this.
Another thing that I struggle with is keeping the song interesting. I keep on doing it, and then suddenly, boom. No more ideas. Don't know how to proceed. I take a break and all, but it's still the same. .-.
I ultimately scrap the project in it's entirety like that. Oh well.
It actually grows on you as you listen to the song more
But perhaps you could try using something different too, and see how it works out. That's all I'm saying.
And finally, thank YOU for sharing your work.
The way you work, and the tips I find in your thread are priceless.
Thank you.

But the main thing I used to create this atmosphere is a convolution reverb where instead of a regular impulse response I put a sample I had recorded previously, which is basically me hitting a cooking pan lid (I really liked the sound of it and thought I'd use it as a cymbal sometime). You can really hear the effect coming at the parts where you said I used whitenoise with some filters (but I didn't haha). I added some dubstation delays here and there -- and that's it! To make it even more wide and random, I added different slow moving tremolos on all the atmosphere tracks, with slightly different rates (from 0.08Hz to 0.12Hz I think).

Simoneon Wrote:Thanks! Yeah, I noticed that when I was making the segment. However I didn't want to add any more sounds as I wanted to keep the simplistic feel for the drums. But yeah you're right, there is something strange about it. However to be fair I kind of started to like it after a few listens. It still brings that odd feel, but at least shakes up the dreamy and sleepy atmosphere.
