In the forest to the east, Drahcir and Mailliw sprinted at top speed, fleeing from a pursuing army of demons. They were getting tired, and the demons showed no sign of relent.
"Blast," muttered Drahcir, "If this keeps up, we're lunch."
Without warning, Mailliw hit the ground. He had tripped over a tree root.
"What the--" exclaimed Drahcir. He pulled Mailliw back onto his feet. When he looked up, they were already surrounded!
"Uh-oh," Mailliw said.
The demons advanced menacingly towards the two brothers, who retreated to the middle of their circle.
Then, before it could react, Drahcir charged at the demon right in front of him, drew his beamsword, cut it down, and ran through the opening, Mailliw right behind him. They continued to run, until the noises behind them faded.
"Looks like we've lost them," Drahcir stated the obvious. "Now, shall we head to the capital?"
