Z arose from his unconscious state lying in a small puddle of his own blood. He had realized from before that he had been struck down by the man in the black trench coat. He looked at the area where his was cut. There was not even a scratch on him. Standing up ecstatically, Z raised his hands to his face and looked at them. They were glowing in unusual crimson red and purple hues.
“So this is the power of the Stickman?”
“Yes it is.” Z’s conscience spoke out to him.
“What happened to me?”
“I took control of you…temporarily. But it seems that your body is still too weak to truly wield my power. That’s why we were defeated so easily.”
The redheaded man began looking around and noticed the destruction that he was partially responsible for. He was in utter shock as if he had gone to sleep and awoke in a nightmare. Some bodies were lying charred on the ground. Men…women…children.
The horrific sight caused him to break down and cry. He did not want this. He felt weak and helpless that he couldn’t control what happens.
“Why are you crying? This is all for a greater purpose. Do not mourn over the lives of these creatures.”
“I am one of these ‘creatures’! This is not what I wanted to happen! WHY DID I LET THIS HAPPEN???!!!”
“Don’t you lose control of yourself now, Z! If you truly want to be free of me and your own being again, you will not turn back now. It’s been too late for many years now. I am your only way out.”
With his hair covering his eyes and his solemn expression on his face, he rose up from the ground and asked, “What must I do?”
“Remove your emotions, they will only serve as a hindrance to our true goal. You must become heartless and free from pain of any kind. You, in a sense, must become ME…THE CRIMSON ONE….the Red Stickman.”
Z stood looking down for a long period of time. He realized that his conscience was right. He really had no choice, no alternative, and no other way to go. He looked at a mountain that could be seen in the distance. There was no longer a gentle purple hue in his eyes…there was only crimson.
