Drahcir and Sonidow had regrouped and were starting to lose hope. They could not make heads or tails of the castle and each way they went looked the same as the last way. Sonidow heard a noise behind him and saw Drahcir collapse in exhaustion.
“Get up!” Sonidow yelled. “We don’t have time to sit around.”
Drahcir raised his head and looked at Sonidow, “But don’t you see, there’s no way out of here!”
Sonidow grabbed him by his collar, “That sort of thinking is the reason we are still in here in the first place! Stop acting so hopeless and get a grip!”
Then all of a sudden the space in front of them began warping. Both of them were locked in position and didn’t move. Sonidow was still gripping Drahcir’s collar as both of them looked at the distorted area in front of them. It began twisting counterclockwise and another area could be seen through it.
“Is this Manji’s doing?” Sonidow asked.
“Who knows?” Drahcir said looking closely at the area. “Where is that?”
Sonidow loosed his grip on Drahcir’s collar and slowly walked towards it. “It looks like a forest.”
He peered closer and suddenly got that burning sensation. It was so strong this time that he took a knee holding his chest. Drahcir quickly rushed to his aid.
“Are you alright, Sonidow?” Drahcir asked attempting to touch his shoulders.
“Stay back!” Sonidow swiped him out of the way.
Drahcir moved away from him. He quickly noticed that Sonidow’s eyes were losing their color and his facial expression had changed completely. Sonidow rose on both of his feet and drew one of his swords.
“S-Sonidow?” Drahcir barely managed to utter his name; he was so frightened by this sudden change in his partner.
Sonidow looked back at him and the look he gave to Drahcir made him fall to his knees in trepidation. Sonidow turned his head back to the distorted area in front of him and, without warning, lunged straight through it. Drahcir did not dare pursue him. He thought to himself.
“Was that really Sonidow? I’ve never seen such an intense feeling of hatred before.”
The portal had closed completely and Drahcir was lost in thought still trapped inside the castle.
