You should know how I do it by just looking at it.

Magnus and Drew have different methods.

To do Magnus' hair I used the blur tool with the "Finger painting" box checked. Just use it a bit and you'll know (If you have Photoshop, that's it)

To do Drew's hair I used a better method wich is basically a shade. Yeah, darkest colour, normal color, lightest colour. It's pretty simple actually. Zoom in, I think I used three colors for that hair.

You should really zoom the sprite and check what you can't do carefully, then think in a way to reproduce it. It's better like that.
