well, there's a few stuff that you can first note:
1) stop any downloads/web surfing
2) don't run msn/any other chat client
3) only have hamachi and lf2 running.

Course, the main thing is not those - it's your internet speed, your opponent's internet speed, and the distance between the both of you. And finally, the reason you might lose is your ability to play in slow situations / when you press your keys.
