And yeah, linking range and mana isn't that easy, but also not too difficult. Maybe you'll be able to do that when you are almost done. If you want to, I can tell you how it is exactly working. Basically you first use a catch move and if there is an enemy you can catch, there is something named "catchingact:" in the frame which leads you to the frame named behind, in this case the first spell frame with a special mana cost. But you are right: For the weaker moves it really isn't necessary.
