@NoneX: to get gradient overlay in photoshop, right click on the layer thumbnail, and select blending options, and then a new window should come up, and then tick gradient overlay, and give it the settings i tried, or make your own.
@everyone else, thanks for all the positive feed back!
side note:
game maker is very useful for this. just download the lite version, you dont need full version for it, and then in the sprites animation, just click animation, rotate, 360 degrees in 16 frames, and the just paste those onto the sprite sheet. but i would check your weapon is aligned, with the base sprite sheet, because when you go to use it, it may be off center, making the char actual look like he isnt holding it.
