wow, thank you very much for your ideas!
So, to give you a little update: background isn't static anymore, means: layers are shifting a little (yes, before it all behaved like a single picture) on character movement. Also, added some birds; simple bird-ish things, these V-like objects that are to represent birds from behind :D

ToDo:
# Some little cloud/mist effect in the back (I won't do that, it simply looks ugly, I just tested it :P)
# A specialty. Wind sounds really good, but therefore I need to study some DC tuts again. Forgot too much over the time :|

edit: all right, the thingy is about to work. the method is not the most simple one but, hey, when it works I don't care :D

*bump*
So... I worked a little more after posting the last progress, and I got the method to work! :D

One thing I'll have to do now..... How exactly shall it act? I mean, should a warning come ("Storm approaching!") or shall it just happen? Shall there be only a little wind messing up the fighters' strategies or shall it even freeze? Anything is possible ;)

Where are the screenshots?!

You don't need any friggin' warning :D

A little wind is enough. Shouldn't influence the fighters too much. ;)

how would the wind effect them?
would it nudge the fighters to one side of the screen or something?
or change the direction of balls?
no matter what, its a pretty darn fine idea!
im not sure if you can actually see birds that high in a mountain range though...
just a suggestion

I'll change the system a little. At the moment, the wind always appears at on corner => moving all players / weapons to that corner. The next version will make it a little more random, so not moving into a corner but to a random place on the bg ;)
In theory, the system works fine, I'll just need to spend some time on putting this into the dat-files. ;)

Oh, no screenies atm because I'm sitting at my lappy; and the bg is on my other comp......

Make a little wind-approaching sound, so you know that the wind comes in... let's say 2 seconds?

Oh and some LF2 stylement (?) would do well, as it now looks very 3D-ed. And to be 100% honest the 3D-ed doesn't even look right because as I remember LF2 doesn't really have a correct perspective.

And no, I'm not back. Just have nothing to do right now.

Alright, I worked a little on the system & effects. Here's a little preview of what I've been working on.....

[attachment=1085]

Kayz, should this look more lf2-styled or shall I leave it the way it is now (graphics-wise)? Please vote in the poll ;)
And, furthermore, any other suggestions?

So far about the comments and the awesome poll-participation =P (2 (leave it 3d) vs 5 (lf2-styled))

So, I updated the thingy a little and chenged the graphics to make them look more lf2-styled. Here you go, enjoy :)
