I chatted with Marti about this, this are his answers:

DC: He use a texteditor to code it before the files are encrypted.
Marti: I think they know lf2's data better than me now

HEX: Marti and Starsky never use HEX - why should they, they have the source code :P

Sprites: Marti made a tool for this hisself where he can test animations and area positioning, but don't ask - he will not release this. Beside this he use Photo Shop.

well, he only has it on his computer I guess and it's self-coded and not very user friendly - i can quote him: "I'm probably the only person in the world who can use it"

I think one time I discovered such program with vista, but I don't remember if it's on my comp now...

continuing on Marti's program, we won't need to obtain it from him (though it would be interesting to see what it is). I haven't forgotten about the DW. I'm close to coding the actual game engine, and due to java's super code portability, I can just stick it in the DCer and probably get the character animating on the frame maker. Course, wouldn't be done so soon (then I'd have to implement a frame set animating panel to work on top of the frame maker).
