[CHAR] Eragon [Need spriter] [UPDATED 3rd JAN]
#11
Yeah, the film was crap. It distorted the story too much, imo. Yeah, I might have to do it myself, but I don't have the patience or the time. Thats why I'm hoping for help.

@the nave - I already said that the moves are crap. xD. I know. I'm an amateur DCer, this is only my second character, and I'm still working on the moves to make them more original, and I was relying on some good sprites (Like a good explosion) to do that. I realise it looks like a copy of Dennis with all copied moves. But like I'm said, I'm gonna work on 2 hell moves, which would be more original. Also, I was hoping to add some hits to Jierda that come from different directions, like from the top and behind, to make it look better. I'm working with the dvx values to do whats it supposed to, imo throw the enemies far.
I'll balance the moves later, and whatever you see with lots of opoints and facings, the mp cost will be increased too. I've finished the simple stuff first, so with some research I can improve them later. And I've made another sword combo too but didn't post it cause its not ready. Oh and I'm probably gonna remove the facing: 30 from the Adurna thingy - I know it looks worse :D

If any of you Eragon-fans can remember any other spell he might have used in the books, or anything thats possible from whats given of the ancient language (Like the Adurna-Thrysta I came up with), please suggest.

Oh and did I mention how crappy Saphira looked in the movie? Looked like a bird with scales >_> I mean honestly the scales on her wings looked like feathers, they should have been like dinosaur wings, like in the game, or like the dragon in Dragonheart, if you've seen that. I can't believe movie directors etc. could be so stupid.

Gad made a tutorial on water columns and stuff i think, making them transparent for in game. If you find out where that is.. it could help on your adurna thrysta so that you don't end up freezing people :P

I'm wondering how they want to make a second movie :D They screwed up the story so much that its simply impossible to turn the second book into a film. However the most annoying thing was Saphiras voice( in german). But anyway.
About the attacks:
there aren't too many really original attacks in the book, but I remember that Murtagh once used a word to chain Eragon. I can't remember the name, though. Or, alternatively, the word to make people fall asleep( which Eragon used.)
Risa should maybe be done for just one enemy, which you could also throw away with it.
As a melee attack you could also use "Jierda theira kalfis"( if you don't mind having two Jierda's) to hurt and stun the enemys.

Those attacks aren't the most original, either, but the best I can think of.
However, something that could turn this into a very unique character is interlinking the costs of a spell with the range like in the book. So, if you attack an enemy far away, the attack costs more mana or even can kill you. I think its possible if you use different itr/k: 3's (catching) which lead the character to the spells. I would really like to play a character with a concept like that.
A giant explosion for the arrow might be overpowered btw.
Edit: I forgot about getting mana or life from the people around you, which could also be quite interesting. I think its possible to hurt foes with state 18 or something, some of the DC'ers will tell you. Nevertheless I don't have a clue how to link the life/mana you get with the peope you hurt( might be possible because of the slowdown if you hurt more than one character, so if the attack takes 3 TU's, then you get 50 mana, if it takes 6 TU's then 100...) or how you hurt only foes.

Uhm... You could give him an attack which drains all his current mana, regardless off how much he has, and damages himself 450. And then he goes into "the dance of pain".

Yeah, it's the spell he cast when he was in the desert. I don't remember it's name though.

EDIT: Sorry for not specifying that this move would be a "just-for-the-heck-off-it" move.

didn't that spell kill loads of people off too? He got absolutely rinsed xD

Do you maybe mean the spell to turn sand into water? Why should he try that while fighting against bandits? The only thing he could try is turning bandits into water, but if he can't even manage a glas of water...
I mean, spells have to be useful in a way, don't they? What's the point in nearly killing yourself?
@Eddie: Which spell do you mean? After they were in the desert he nearly killed himself by throwing stones on Urgals a mile away, but otherwise... I don't know. The only thing I can remember is when he used too much waise heill to heal Arya.
Btw: It wasn't ment as a spell, but the word "skölir" which he used to bless the baby( or sköliro, as he did it wrong) could also be used for a shield as it means "protect", I think( I maybe should search for the books and look it up :D)
On the other hand "sköliro"( attract) could be interesting, too. Something that attracts the enemies attacks? Maybe on of the enemies himself( if that is possible)? Or he could use his mind reading powers to avoid attacks... Seems as if there are more useful words in the book than I thought.

Lots of interesting ideas....
About transparency, if you can give me any ideas or link me to a tutoriral or something, that would be good. And the basic way of transparency is to paste a layer of black intersecting lines on top of everything -.- Which is okay I guess...

Saphira's voice was fine in English, imo.

And could you translate that jierda thing into English, I'm still not sure what you meant. Its an interesting idea, I was thinking of a melee attack jierda, and a melee punch named "Argetlam" (Silver palm, a name for dragon riders) would be funny xD.
like I said, I was trying a few things with risa, and yeah my final idea was the main move is just like it is now, and after pressing some combination, he throws them away.
I think interlinking range and mp/hp cost is too much for me atm. Too difficult, not worth it imo it would make the character too underpowered. But it would be good to balance off some stronger moves, like risa. The effect is already less at the edges of the spell's extent.
Yeah, sucking hp and mp out of enemies would be interesting and make the character more original... I forgot about it too. It's gonna be difficult though, so I think I'll have to post in the Q/A forum. It would be perfect if I could do that.

@snorsorbet : ....... You want me to create a move that stuns Eragon and brings him down to 450 hp? -.-

Yeah I already thought of skolir, its my next move. A shield that moves along with him, and reflects attacks for a while. The sprites have to be good though, the base here is that no matter how simple the moves seem, the attacks have to look good so as to not look like copies.

Ok guys tyou're messing up the story. In Teirm, he used Jierda to hit a group of urgals which nearly killed him, and Brom suggested that he should've thrown stones through their skulls. He didn't actually throw stones o.O

I'm pretty sure skoliro is shielded and skolir is a shield. So skolir is fine.
Again, the last idea is wierd and difficult to DC.

I'm thinking I should make a simpler v 1.0 with the original moves I thought of, without the hp loss increasing with range and without sucking life out of enemies. Just the simples moves and the "Hell" moves I thought of. Then I'll work on the more complicated stuff.

THE MAIN THING HERE IS SPRITES! I NEED A SPRITER! If you know any good spriters, please request them to talk to me atleast.

I made one more move, a new sword combo with more strikes, and I did some work on Risa. Now I've gotta go somewhere for three days >.> So I can't come online or DC. Ima post an animation or video of the combo later then.

EDIT :- Wow. long post. I'll be really shocked if ANYONE reads this whole.

oh, just a question... are you going to do his half-elf form like he is now after that strange ceremony, or how he was before, like in tha film?

Eh... I was thinking about that too, but I think I should worry about that after I find a spriter >_< I think elf form with long ears, light skin and the arnour he wore in the movie would look good? I was just remebering how he stores energy in his sword's jewel, maybe. I could try that to make combat more tactical, if I increased mp costs? (I mean you'd have to drink a few of those mp bottles to store mp, then fight, theb return again to store up mp)
