not very impressed
its an expansion to the normal free transformation i wouldve liked to have a long time ago as it allows you to do many transformations at once but if you are skilled you can already do most of that with the normal free transform - just takes a sh**** longer and isnt very intuitive also i dont think it will make spriting characters much easier i mean how often do you have your character laid out on a 2D plane like that puppet and want to only transform it in that dimension? you would still have to draw many different poses if you dont want the whole character to look like a flat paper ragdoll (04-04-2010, 09:19 AM)Lauli Wrote: But I keep thinking about the fact, that this tool will blur these little 79x79 sprites. I mean, in the video that's some very big picture, but what about the LF2 sprites? They will get all blurry if you do this puppet-warp for it. youd be stupid to not use this on 200% sprites and scale them down later as usual favorite dcing techniques: wpoint | double key inputs | holding back | alternate basic moves

Is see the future! God... this simplifies character making for me a lot... I can't wait 'til I get my copy of photoshop to try this out.

well, for lf2 I agree to YinYin - but I thought maybe it would be useful for Marti and HF

(04-05-2010, 09:06 AM)YinYin Wrote: not very impressedIndeed; I do quite a bit with the warp-tool, and, although in most cases it is sufficient, it definitely has its limitations. I'm sure that this tool will ease up some things. I can imagine this being a handy tool for creating frames such as walking, running, or falling; after all, it will certainly not replace the good ol' painting. There are limitations (aesthetically), yet a nice compromise between speed and quality. Surely, working with sprites at their original size would be a crime, though. Marti Wong Wrote:It might be useful when drawing backgroundsWould be interesting to know how the puppet tool plays a role in making backgrounds..... amy ideas? Not wanting to sound like an advertiser, but CS5 has/will have some pretty cool features. Some months ago, I saw a video demonstrating a more accurate brushing algorithm. Personally, I believe that this will be no plugin. Looking at where it is located menu-wisely, it seems to be deeply integrated into the program and probably refers to certain functions only PS CS5 offers. Therefore, it'll likely not be downgradable to previous versions. And even if, it'll not be for free. In general, things that are being advertised cost something. Especially if bigger companies are behind it.
