New game with engine similar to LF2

Good to hear. That was mostly to my reputation. I don't want to be regarded as "that free guy", I'm free only as long as the boss isn't going to make money out of any projects I'm in.

Yeah, you're right. That's why something like this would have to be seriously thought over. Could you expand your idea?
I had in mind game modes like quick match (every player is given a set amount of points to use to expand their skill trees as they like. Then they play a match), but I forgot the rest :p .

Well anyway, I am creating little games with using Macromedia Flash 8! Well, it is hard to create a fighting game....But nice(I know that how hard we have to work on creating games)...
It takes so much time, and even I can't understand how to create a game anyway...

LF2 is great, but it's not being developed anymore, it can only stay as it is now. I hope your project will be a success ;D . Too bad I am just a stupid guy that can't help you with anything.

I don't know what others are thinking, but I sure like slow-motion fighting game, which is the only thing that makes me like LF2 ;D . I know many other people here who prefers slow-motion compared to full speed. Anyway in full speed it's impossible to react on time to the opponent and it'll much be about predicting the opponent's moves and the "rock, paper and scissor" contidion will often occur, or even worse spamming projectiles (still, can probably be fixed by a very good design, idk)

And about your idea of leveling up characters - I personally don't like levels making any effects on the character in battles. I'd be glad to see character leveling, just to know how much we've played though. Also, it's no problem if leveling up does unlock abilities until a certain level, but reaching the maximum state should take a short time. Because, during that time, we can learn the existing skill before eventually unlocking another.

well, thanks guys for taking a look on my thread and interest ^^. Actually after investigating the network matter a bit more in depth I think that there won't be any accounts at first (my budget won't allow me to do so). Multiplayer will be just a place to fight with friends or other people without any enhancements. There will probably be some skill trees for each character and in multiplayer at the beginning of the match you'll have some points, which could be spent on skills/featers you're interested in.
More info soon, I'm quite short of time lately.

PS: John Fighterli, don't worry! I'm struggling with my game since 2 years now :D (with 2 a bit long breaks), but have learned a lot so I guess it was't a waste of time ;]. And for a year I'm releasing the game. The best thing you can do to learn game programming is never give up. Anyway, gamdev.net is a great place if you need some clues!

PS: STILL LOOKING FOR SPRITERS!

Oh f*** I cant believe there are people with similar mindset and effort with me at the other end of the planet.
I am 20 and am a web programmer. I am from where LF2 origins (Hong Kong), and I actually attended the same school as one of the LF2 author (never met him though).
Well, guess what? I am attempting an open source clean room implementation of LF2, on the web. If you never known the power of javascript+webbrowser, go to see the demo!!!

the best part of the project is, I attempt to stay as close as compatible to the original LF2. It has a character data file converter so that it accepts original LF2 data files.
I also tried hard to make sure that it behaves exactly the same as the original LF2, frame by frame.

My ultimate goal is to build an open source engine for spriters, data changers and hobby game developers on the web.

The only pity we have today is I have only finished part (some 1/4) of the project. savail and others, can we get together and probably have some kind of collaboration?

i.e. never meant to hijack this thread, so kindly go to here to discuss.
