1. EXG9, agreed. There are/were competitions, but not really tourneys, so I postponed this thing from summer to autumn. Glad you joined.
2. Hero destroyer, I haven't sprited for months either, just did a few drawings, which you can view in the arts sections. Glad you joined.
3. Gad, 8, 12 or 16 contestants, I should make it work with small adjustments in the chart scheme. I just didn't expect for the forum collective to still be so active. Glad, Gad, you joined. (Pun intended, tovarisch.)
4. Marko pro, I don't think we need qualifications. Aye, a little bit of pirate-y communism. Glad you joined. (Check the time-table for spriting/voting: a week each, three rounds of hardcore ballsack busting, starting from 2012.09.28.)
5. EXG9, yeah, last time it was a satirical drama fest, but it was fun, nonetheless. I'll sign you up, say otherwise, if you're not participating.
6. Kashif, ah, the underdog raises his head. Glad you joined.
7. LutiChris, ah, the favorite raises his head. Glad you joined.
8. mundvoll_, glad you joined. Summer ended, got some free time to spend on the net, so I came, I saw, I paid the money. Heh.
9. The Hari, time will tell, how many will join. 12 would be a good number. Glad you joined?
P.S. Post the themes, which will be drawn randomly, here, if you hate PM. So far, Luti has offered some good ones, hope to see more from you le emperors.
P.P.S. Added a new rule: All participants after their losses will have a two point vote concerning the duels in the further events of the tourney.

Question:
How exactly does the jury affect the overall decisions? Given you say there's a 7-day voting, I assume it's a public voting. Do Jurors 'merely' have additional votes they can place? Or are these 7 days meant for the jurors to vote (which is sort of ALOT of time).
Are the 3 votes of a juror per round or per individual duel?
Version 1.10 out now!
Version 1.02 out now!
Version 1.22 out now!
Return (String) System.getNewsOfTheDay();
Barely active, expect slow responses. If at all.
Greetz,
Alblaka

EXG9, glad to hear, that you are in.
Alblaka, the voting only seems perplexed and intricate, but it's pretty much simplistic: each judge can give 3 points/votes to the winner of each of the duelist (4 duels, if 8 players; 8 duels, if 16 players), thus making it 9 points/votes per participant from three judges. The participants can evaluate with two points/votes in regards to other duels not their own. Other forum members can cast 1 point/vote only. Pretty much summed it up. To answer your question directly, - 3 points/votes of a juror per individual duel; 12 points per round from each juror, if four duels, etc.
Welcome Alblaka - the kind dc'ing dragon as your 1st jury! The crowd cheers. (I'll make something of a guide lines for judges concerning sprite evaluation/commentary in the following week.)

This is gonna be interesting.
This place motivates me to become an artist, this place motivates me to learn coding, this place made me grow up, showed me the ways to interact with people. Unlike the old childish of me myself, I've learned a lot and gotten some experiences. For me, it's not just a fan forum, it's a helpful community. From a noob to someone who would think before he speaks, looking back at my old post made me laugh hard, I'm grateful of the differences between these 2 years.

Sonic Boom, Quarter-finals are from 2012.09.28 to 2012.10.05, so I think you’ll make it. Glad you joined.
Hero destroyer, I hope so. Now we just need two more players for a 12 player match, as we have 10 of as this moment.
Erbuslayer, glad you joined.

2012 OST (Official Sprite Tournament) evaluations guidelines:
In what ways does the finished sprite use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of their implied counter-parts?
• How accurate in adaptation is the final sprite to the suggested theme?
• What are the common conventions/innovations that it uses?
• To what extent does the finished sprite challenges conventions? (i.e. is it unusual or very typical of the theme/genre)
How effective is the combination of the finished sprite and the original LF2 version? (i.e. is it close to it, or maybe turns to simple anime cell-shading)
• Place the 3 ‘sprites’ (your own as judges’, the contestants’ & your perfect imaginary one) – how do they look together? Why do you think the finished sprite effectively promote itself against the other two? How does it do/doesn't do this?
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
• Use surveys and the votes of the forum to determinate your lapses in judgment. Analise the results – look for patterns – pick out individual quotes – what conclusions can you draw from what people have said about the sprites? What have you learned from them?
P.S. I still encourage to suggest several themes for the competition as some people already did. You are the ones, who will be spriting them, kind gents.
P.P.S. Welcome our second judge - The Lost Global Mod.
