The bright scheme fits better I think. Mostly because it looks more airy.
I still cannot really imagine this on the whole sheet. Where exactly are you planning to put this animation for example?
And why does everything about him have to be so tall and slim?

As I never really intended to create the character "Training Demon" and rather revamp the sprites into something with more soul ... let me introduce you to Jun.

DJA charge

Pressing DJA once will drain all mp you currently have to prepare a charge.
Pressing DJA again will release the charge, disconnecting you from requiring any mp.
Pressing DJA again will send you back to requiring mp while preparing another charge.
That way you'll be able to switch back and forth.

Being in charged mode will unlock 3 extra special moves and alter all his basic actions.

His new body seems to be bend forward in a weird way - he looks off balance. And I would sure miss the cool long coat.

Third and last unlockable skill: Flash Kick (D^A / J+A)

Unlike Jacks version this one is very mobile and the key for all of his long combos.
