Eddie's Art Pieces
#21
I'm not an artist, sadly. May I say something nevertheless? (not that I'd care about your answer :P)
The picture looks very nice, it lacks depth, but that's a matter of shading. Hair looks very good as usual, but the nose is pretty much missing. I've got no problem with a manga-like nose, but then it should look this way ">" ,I suppose. Or well, somehow different.
Proportions look fine to me (except for the mouth, which seems a tad too low as well as the nose), but I really wouldn't rely on what I'm saying when it comes to proportions.
I must say, I really like your drawing style. Your mixture of manga and realistic style combines a lot of the good things in both of them.

I get what you're saying with the nose, I am going to be shading it soon so I had the nose like that for the sake of shading its shape on. Depth will definately not be a problem when I have done shading it.

Thanks, I'm still trying to find a style i'm comfortable with, i'm close with this semi-manga realism hybrid but I feel like there's just the tiniest bit missing or out of place with the style.

Cheers for the feedback Reaper, means a lot to see someone still watches my work.

this style reminds me of Travois's sketches. Maybe you could looks at his for your reference.

I like her eyes very much. More or less, everything seems to be ok, even and nose. But you could add to nose maybe some line that ends up near her right eye, or you could just do a bit shading... Anyway, the second choice is much easier, so I'll leave it to you ;)

@Marshall -
I'm assuming you mean Travoisnero (NirvanaNeron)? His art is a hell of a lot better than mine in my opinion, probably in everyone else's too.

I know what you mean by it's similar, he makes use of slightly more rounded faces like I do instead of the typical pointy manga style. He also doesn't use the nose line from the head on view if possible, leave it to two slits for nostrils and a bit of shading.

He also has somewhat of a flare which I don't, I'm still trying to build on my own flare for when I draw. He does his eyes in a more completely sketched out manner if you get me. If you don't get me, I leave gaps where the eye meets the lower eyelid, in my opinion it makes it a bit more... appealing? Correct me if I'm wrong I may test out that kind of style myself, see whether it works for me.

Thank you for pointing that out Marshall - it is actually an extremely good idea. Improving your work by standing on the shoulders of others (in this case looking at their work as a reference).

@Lord Anubis:
Thanks for the advice, may try both and see how i like em.

yes, it's him. I didn't say it's exactly the same, but the way the lines flow reminded me of Travois straight away and it's always easier to emulate someone who's already got a similar style

Finally a new piece of my own work. Didn't take as long as the others mind, just let it flow from my hand onto paper (yes no picture reference). Same hat, different girl though to the previous ones, funny they wear the same hats?

Anyway, more C+C from the famous artists of LFE would be much appreciated, wanna see how far you guys think I've come, if it's a great deal then I'll make sure to pursue my efforts. Hope this is a much better quality piece of work for you guys.

P.S - She stole the picture, took a picture of it and uploaded it from that by the looks of things. But yes... the girl did steal the picture, cat damn her!

Edit - yes her shoulders are actually tiny, so I tried to reproduce in the picture, although they look kinda small still - odd proportions?!

Head on the neck needs to be rotated couple degrees (1 or 2) to our right, proportions r ok with me.. Hair might make the head bigger thats it.

Id say u improved a lot since the last time especially after showing me that sprite on msn, why dont you try to draw a full body drawing with a pose.

Her ear looks like it's positioned waay too high up and the shoulders look like they are very tense (may be intentional, but doesn't match her facial expression).
Also, her head looks like it's positioned too far back on the neck, due to the fact that the hair is covering her leftmost parts of the chin. I don't know what you can do about this, maybe make the hair thinner in that area so the chin is still partly visible.
Her cross looks unproportional and the lines aren't right to eachother.

That's all bad I could think of... I love the folds on her hat.
