Chapter Twelve

The storm began losing its power and the torrential rains devolved into a small drizzle. The half of the sun could be seen through the gray cumulonimbus clouds on the horizon, signaling the arrival of the evening.
A blue cloud of smoke came down upon a cliff far from the fray. Two shadows were inside the obscurity and as it quickly dispersed, the figures were identified as Blue-Phoenix and Drahcir.
“Why have you spawned us here?” Drahcir asked.
“Because if you’re right,” BP began, “then it’s best we stay clear of the area. Yet I can’t help but want to go back there. I want a new Empire like everyone else, but not at the cost of the innocent lives that are hiding underground.”
“Then how do you plan on rescuing them?” Drahcir asked.
“I don’t know,” Blue said. “I’ll think of something.”
The two stood watching over the continuing battle on the ground, and above in the sky. Blue-Phoenix could depict Evil Sonidow in the distance. He also noticed a red being and another unknown person.
“Is that the Red Stickman?” Blue-Phoenix thought to himself. “That has to be him. But who is that other person? Could it be…?”

~

Marshall and Silva came down to the frontal soldiers on the east wall.
“Good work everyone,” Silva congratulated. “But the battle isn’t over. We still have a lot of trouble on Cirno and Giovanni’s end.”
Lauli and Zanshin came in front. Zanshin sheathed his sword on his back.
“I think you got more than me,” Lauli said to Zanshin.
“Maybe so,” Zanshin said.
“Listen, you guys,” Marshall said getting their attention. “I need half of you to come with me to help aid my brother.”
“The other half will come with me,” Silva said, “to help with any problems inside the castle.”
“I’ll accompany you Marshall,” Lauli said. “I wanna see if Paddy needs my help.”
“I doubt that,” Marshall replied. “But the more the merrier is needed for the south wall. Come on!”
The group split up with Silva’s party going back into the castle and Marshall’s party going to flank the south wall. As Silva’s party entered the castle, a large chunk of debris coming from the secondary castle building fell and smashed into the ground right in front of them.
“What the…?” Silva blurted out. He looked up and saw the battle raging above. “Has then been going on the whole time?”
But his attention quickly changed as he saw Lord Razen restrained Azriel’s card trap. The Dark Rebellion member turned and saw Silva’s group behind him.
“Well,” Azriel began, “Nice of you to join us, Silva. I guess your audience will be enough for Razen’s execution.”
Zanshin quickly charged forward unsheathing his Zanbato, “The only one who will be getting executed here is you!”
Silva tried to stop him, “No Zanshin wait!”
The Berserker ran into a large electrical barrier set by Azriel’s cards that were placed on the ground. Zanshin fell back, sizzling from the intense surge he got as he slammed into the barrier.
“Like I said,” Azriel began, “You will be the audience. The Full House Barrier is strong enough to withstand any attack and repel anyone who tried to interfere. So stay there and look pretty.”
Zanshin gritted his teeth and gripped his sword tighter. Silva’s mind was rushing for a quick solution.
“Any last words before you die, Lord Razen?” Azriel said holding a red glowing card in his right hand.
Lord Razen smiled, “Yes, as a matter of fact I do.”
“Well say your peace now,” Azriel said. “Or forever hold it.”
“Zanshin,” Razen called out to the Berserker, “the middle card.”
“WHAT?!” Azriel said looking back at Zanshin who quickly acknowledged.
Zanshin leapt into the air and came down with his sword upon the middle card sitting on the ground. The barrier began emitting electricity every which way. Silva and his group began crouching in defense. Azriel, facing Razen, began charging power into his right card.
“You bastard!” Azriel said, “I’ll execute you here and now!”
Zanshin quickly dashed through the barrier and, with his large sword glowing brightly, he slammed the blade into the ground. In that instant a large flow of light began surging through the ground cracking it as it went forward. It stopped under Azriel, who was moments away from throwing his red card. The light came up and a large blast of energy spiraled out and slammed into Azriel.
“NOO!!!!
The Azriel dropped his red card and a large explosion occurred. Razen was knocked out of the card ensnarement. Zanshin’s attack was still spiraling up and Azriel was blasted into the heavens above.

The battle between Zabobula, Sonidow, and Robo was temporarily halted as they noticed the large beam of light soaring upward to the sky. Robo quickly used the time to try to dissuade the two from continuing to fight.
“You see the destruction this entire battle is causing?” Robo began. “If this continues who knows how much damage would be caused.”
“I don’t care,” Zabobula said. “It’s not my concern. It never has been never will be.”
“Was it not your concern when you were part of G4F?” Robo asked.
Zabobula was silent and no emotion was shown on his face. The same emotionless was on Sonidow’s.
“You don’t understand Robo,” Evil Sonidow said. “This battle knows no limit.”
“You are wasting time trying to change us,” Zabobula said. “It’s too late for that.”
“It’s never to late Stickman,” Robo said.
“Enough talk!” Zabobula said charging energy into his fists.
The Crimson One and the Dark Hunter charged at Robo and the battle continued.

After a long wait, Noir and Lukas’s standoff ended. The two charged into each other engaging into hand-to-hand combat. Noir’s technical skills led him into taking the offensive. Lukas was forced to take a leap back from Noir’s overwhelming offense. The Dark Angel of Justice did not give his replacement time to breathe as he quickly sped behind him once he landed on the ground. He smashed his fists onto the back of Lukas’s head sending him crashing through a nearby tree. The tree toppled several other trees and caused smoke and debris to fly everywhere.
Noir looked back at the other Dark Rebellion members who did not move an inch.
“They must be there to keep the others from interfering,” Noir thought to himself.
Lukas rose back up spitting out blood and smirking as if he liked the heavy blow Noir had hand-delivered to him.
Kadaj was surprised to see him get up after that attack. “You have endurance, kid, I’ll give you that.”
“I have a lot more than that,” Lukas said, “I assure you.”
“Show me,” Noir said making a taunting hand gesture.

Fice was on the verge of jumping into the fray, but Snorbet stopped him from making any rash decisions.
“No,” he said. “If you interfere, they will come after us.”
Sir Frog croaked in agreement.
“I know but what else can we do?” Fice asked.
“Hope that Noir can defeat this guy,” Snorbet said.

Paddy went on a killing spree slashing anything that moved with his two golden swords. Dome, Alec, and Handertaker backed up Paddy slaying anyone whom he had missed (which was not a lot).
“This guy is mad,” Alec said slaying a soldier with a frozen water dagger. “It’s like he’s competing with someone to see who can get the most kills.”
“Whoever that is,” Dome began running a soldier through with his sword, “that other guy must be winning cause we certainly aren’t.”
Handertaker downed a soldier with his large golden sword and replied, “You know, you make this less fun when you put it that way.”
“Fun?!” Alec said ducking a soldiers attack, “We are fighting for our lives here. How is any of this fun?”
“You’re barely a soldier,” Dome said slaying the soldier whom Alec ducked his attack, “so you don’t understand.”
“I don’t do this kinda thing every day you know,” Alec replied.
“The way you’re fightin’, Dome began, “It’s pretty obvious.”
“I resent that,” Alec said throwing another frozen dagger at a soldier sneaking up on Dome.
Several soldiers were thrown in their direction. Paddy leapt from out of nowhere with his two swords gleaming in their golden magnificence.
“You’ll get better with time, Alec,” He said. “Consider this your training, but the future of our Empire, and our lives, are at stake.”
“That just made this situation sound worse,” Handertaker added.
“You all fail to realize that no one is leading this army,” Paddy said.
As everyone continued to fight, they realized that Paddy was right. No one was leading the army. They were all disorganized.
“You’re right,” Dome said. “They are just coming at us aimlessly. This must be another Red Herring.”
Paddy looked back at the castle, which they were all quite distanced from. What he saw ceased his movement.
“Pad what are you doing?” Alec asked fending off incoming soldiers. But Alec also saw the gleam of light and realized something big had happened inside the castle.
“We have to go back!” Paddy said.
“You do realize how deep we are in this invading army right?” Dome asked. “How the Hell are we going to get back?”
“Simple,” Paddy said extending out his swords. “We get out with Exorcism Magic.”
“Oh not that again!” Alec said. “You almost killed us, let alone the soldiers!”
“Just cover me from behind,” Paddy said, “My winds are not lethal and that my vulnerable area.”
“Ok,” Dome said, “Let’s go!”
Paddy slammed his blades into the ground and quickly performed an incantation summoning his lethal winds again. The large radial symbol spawned on the grounds below them. Paddy grabbed his swords and began spinning violently.
“Prepare yourselves,” Dome said to Alec and Handertaker.
In that instant, Paddy’s magic created the deadly winds and he began making his way back to the castle, cutting through the forces that stood in his way.

~

Cirno saw Paddy’s winds from where he was, noticed that they were coming back, and then realized that something was wrong. He looked inside the castle and noticed the heavy damage to the main buildings. The gleam of light had disappeared which he had witnessed earlier. Don Giovanni had come to Cirno.
“Where did that light come from?” Don asked.
“It was of Zanshin’s Zanbato,” Cirno answered. “But something is not right. It may feel like we have the upper hand here however something is different and I don’t know what it is.”
“What are you thinking, Cirno?” Don said with growing attention to Cirno’s facial expression.
“Can you take over from here?” Cirno asked instantly surprising the Imperial General. “I need to find out what is really going on.”
“Are you sure?” Don asked.
“Yes,” Cirno answered.
“Fine,” Don Giovanni replied. “Hurry though. Even though the enemy’s army is depleting, they are still not a force to be overlooked.”
“I understand,” Cirno said. “I will be back as soon as I can.”
Cirno took off and Don Giovanni took over the defending forces. As he left, Marshall’s party entered the fray with Lauli at the head smashing through the forces on the left perimeter.
Cirno entered the castle to see the huge battle taking place in the skies. He saw Sonidow charging at the Red Stickman above, but his eye caught another figure in the sky. He was surprised to find out who it was as he looked closer.
“Robo?” Cirno said to himself. “It can’t be!”
“Cirno!”
Razen and Silva’s party came his direction.
“What is going on here?” Cirno asked.
“We need to evacuate the castle completely,” Razen said. “Gather all of the people underground. They need to be taken to a safer area.”
“Why?” Cirno persisted. “What’s going on?”
“The castle is about to be destroyed,” Razen answered. “We are moving the people to Ancuril. Gather any available person and take them to the people hiding underground. There is a underground passage way that leads away from the castle.”
“What about you my Lord?” Silva asked.
“I am staying,” Razen answered. “I will enter the fray with Sonidow, Zabobula, and Robo.”
“No you can’t stay!” Cirno said.
“Don’t argue with me, Cirno,” Razen responded, “Just do what I say. Gather everyone and take them to Ancuril. If I don’t come back, then...”
“Then what?” Silva said. “What happens if you don’t come back?”
“Then,” Razen began, “you will all have to decide who will be the new ruler of the Empire.”

Sonidow parried an attack from the Stickman and countered with a heavy blow to the stomach. He then bashed Zabobula across the head sending him flying into an open area on the grounds of the castle below. Robo came charging at Sonidow immediately after he attacked the Stickman.
“You two just don’t understand!” Robo said locking hands with Sonidow. “There are more important matters beyond this meaningless squabble.”
“I am well aware of that Robo,” Sonidow replied. “But they will have to wait.”
“You fool,” Robo snarled.
“A fool am I?” Sonidow asked. “You think I don’t know what you have been doing since the incident?”
Robo was caught off-guard and Sonidow used the time to run him through with his blade. Sonidow smirked as he jolted the blade further into his abdomen. The G4Forian leader began coughing up blood.
“Yes I know all about your plan,” Sonidow said as he pushed the blade even further. “I know what you plan to do. But I’m afraid it will have to be cut short.”
Zabobula rose up and saw what was happening. “Oh no.”
