When I'm depressed, I tend twist the meanings of stuff in order to try and make myself feel better... not that it helps, though, but one has to try.

Like "fired" meaning "set on fire" instead of "losing one's job".
Or "frozen with horror" meaning "turned into ice by horror" instead of "absolutely still"
