2) None of them told me to search the C/GCC documentation, instead provided a summary of the documentation or linked to something relating to it.
3) Didn't call me an idiot for type casting incorrectly, and actually provided the proper typecast.

They could've just went: ("TROLOLOL RE-READ CODE U N00B LOLOLOLOL").toSophisticatedSentence;
or "go google compiler optimizations". But they didn't.

Also: By telling people they broke the rules, you are actually breaking the "back seat modding" rule. Think about it .

Although you're right of course, and if I already want people to respect the rules so much, then I will respect the "no backseat moderating" rule and report posts instead. But I still don't plan on helping these individuals.

Being nice to everyone makes everybody like you (like Lauli, Phil, etc.) but I wonder if that is really the right thing to do in each case.

Lately, i started wondering whether the mods went lazy or just "It's so lol, i just don't want to stop it yet", regarding these "XXXBlackwingXXX" guys, because they clearly overdid it, with spamming, flaming, PM-warning (still lol'ing at that) and the rest. Members, regardless of how new they are, should NEVER be allowed to do such a nonsense. Je, they're banned now, but imo termbanning them after the 2nd day (at last) would have been more useful.

Whatever you said afterwards shows that you are totally missing the point. If everyone has the same mentality of "if he does not respect me first I am not going to respect him" as you, would there even be respect in the first place?

If I was a nine year old, I doubt reading the forum rules would be on top of my priority list. Does that mean he's so evil he deserves to be exterminated? As long as he reads it afterwards then it's fine by me.

Another thing that irks me is all this "mainsite search" replies. If you bothered to type it out, you surely have some time to search for the old threads as well?

As you said, respect is mutual, bit you got it the wrong way round. What you are doing is demanding respect from others. I'm talking about respecting yourself first, then others would start respecting you and subsequently listen to you.

On the side subject of getting too much work, you don't have to take it too literally. Unless you do think I am The Emperor of the Universe.

that was cause we (actually excluding me, im hardly doing anything besides forum games moderation) gave them a chance to change.
we warned them when they did something wrong, which leaded to permaban. if we would start permabanning annoying people we would misuse our power. it would just be immoral to permaban someone cause he is going on your nerves (besides, if he really was into it, he would just re-register). if i would have banned persons that annoyed me a lot, many great (ex-)users would never have been active here.

for example i really didnt like chase123 and hypermodder at first. but they learned to get into the forum flow, and now i dont have any grudge against them.

btw @other mods: correct me if im wrong lol.

I honestly think most of the newcomers won't read the forum rules as soon as they sign up...
They are still exploring the site and I see them as innocent, in highschool every freshmen is treated with a variety of disrespect because they don't follow the expected norms that the previous students exp. Just leave them be for awhile until they have attatched themselves with LFE, idk maybe 2-3 weeks in adv of activity...
I honestly don't see whut the big deal is...leave them alone
Every member will be harassed in the next few days of activity if they break a rule...
That's all I hatfa say atm...just respect each other...if u can't handle that just ignore them (that's how I see it)

That is a big deal, I'd say. And they are not some special, exclusive rules...they are basic and logical.

well, just look at it like this:
someone from a foreign country steals from a shop. he didnt know that stealing is prohibited. he gets charged.
the next day he steals from another shop, not knowing that the stealing law goes for all shops. he gets charged again.
in the next days he breaks a few other laws, and always gets charged for it.

but he doesnt go to jail cause of that nor gets killed. cause he is a human with human rights.

on this forum, every member has the same rights, thus should be threatened fair.
if someone annoys you, tell him to stop it or ignore him. but dont ask mods to ban him.

edit2: @Divisor below: we banned them for breaking the rules, but it needed a while to become a permaban. get my point? we cant ban spammers if they dont spam enough to get banned.

1. You gave a bad example, I don't know any culture in the world where stealing is allowed.
2. We are not talking about some rules that aren't written anywhere and noone knows about them. We are talking about a thread with rules, which is present in every section and is almost impossible to miss.

You can't excuse their behavior with "they didn't know the rules"

And I didn't expect you to ban them for being annoying, I expected you to ban them because they broke rules on a regular basis.
