Voted for:
Whaat: Cool pose, and cool dragon. Just needed some darker shading on the face, and some highlights and shadows for the hair.
Reaper: I love it! Looks like his fist has become a demon hand!
Apoc: Very cool draoon, and i like the character. The lighting looks great!
DesignHeaven: love the character design, and the firey effect!
Lutichris: though rushed, i like the cartoony-ness of it, and the light effects ;D
Other entries; I really liked that the quality was so high! You made it pretty flippin difficult to decide ;P
Ill close the poll when a tie breaker is made between DesignHeavens' and my entry.
@Apoc, looks like you get to decide next theme! PM me your decision, as discussion on the theme is not really on topic in this thread.

Apoc's sprite is just pure epicness.
Would be a hella cool move!
Woah, thanks. I was gonna do the full move but lacked time :/
@ Alectric
Ok, I have something in mind, PMing that then. Thanks for the vote, btw ;p

I don't know why... Alec's animation looks a bit static to me. Probably to do with the lack of wind movement on the hair and shirt in contrast to the power/energy from the hands.
I have an issue with the dragon's tail from Apoc's sprite (the head it really awesome though). And the missing leg.
Voted for Reaper and Chishio in the end.
Reaper for the fist which really stood out for me (and matches the theme obviously) and the sudden leap in improvement.
Chishio for making something different w/o lacking the cool factor.

voted for apoc and lutichris, because of all those reasons given above
I also planned to vote for chishio, because it's really well sprited, but it just looks to weak to be an ultimate punch... and that's why it kind of misses the theme and I didn't vote for it
if you only count the spriting aspects I'd definately have voted for it^^ (even though the head's abit flat and I don't like those feet)

I don't normally make posts like this, but oh my goodness, this made me laugh really hard. :P
Now to figure out something constructive to say so this is not a spam post... hmm...
Thank you for your compliment Marshall and as for Nave. I perfectly agree with you, it honestly ended up with me struggling trying to make it look more like an ultimate punch, which is one of the reasons why I give props to Reaper for making his punch blend so well with his sprite.

In fact it's his vertebral column, the wholes dragon is made of bones, to fit the Dark/Evil/Necro/Dead thingy. Thanks ;p
About the leg, it is not missing, his right leg is behind the left one, but you can see a pink-ish foot :p (but yeah, it's probably hard to disguise such detailed things in that area without proper animation :/)

This makes much more sense now and upon further inspection of the sprite, I can see the vertebrae a lot easier. My one suggestion would be to give the vertebrae a little bit more of contrast from the arm and the spinal "spikes". Right now they blend in to much and seem to look more flame like than actual vertebrae.

well... the tail bone is meant to be at the end of the vertebrae column, Right now it feels rather incomplete and as a result, I actually prefer Whaat's dragon over to yours. Also, I agree with Chishio that it makes more sense and looks cooler now after you told us it's a skeletal version. But the fact that you need to tell us what we were meant to be looking at further reinforced my decision of not voting for you this time
I still have trouble seeing the leg, but don't agonise too much over this one, as I know it's kind of due to the angle and can't really be seen because of a lack of animation.

With the general spriting-skill increasing, it becomes gradually harder to remain competitive. You pretty much have to go an innovative way to stick out of the mass. Let's take a look at some which struck me especially.
First of all, Reaper. That fist is purely kickarse, plus the colors used are great! The overall spriting quality might not be as refined as some other entries but, man, that fist looks perfect
Definitely deserved a vote.
Apoc: The idea of transforming the energy glow from Davis to a skull-dragon-like shape is surely nice and fitting the theme nicely; however, it looks a little below your level. This might be because the pose doesn't really look like it's radiating a whole lot of power (two straight legs in uppercut? No go xD). In end I ended up voting for you as well. Doesn't really make a big difference, looking at the results, though...
Alectric: Ooooh, animation!
Also a good interpretation of the theme and the quality is decent enough to get a vote as well
DesignHeaven: Even though you went with a totally different set of proportions (which would probably not really fit into an LF2-game, yet can be imagined in some other one), it's got my vote. Why? It's the splendid amount of details, paired with the dynamicness of the pose. Great work!
Chishio: You paint..... faces?! o___°
I don't know, something doesn't feel right with your sprite. It could be because the pose looks rather static -- the char isn't really using his weight to knock out the opponent, so to say. As you mentioned yourself, there are a couple of other flaws; but I'm sure you'll get those sorted
Alright, don't have a whole lot of time right now. Might extend the list later today.

The sprite theme contest party is reaching its climax. Chishio, BP and Apoc offered quite good critics and, being in agreement with Sieg, I think something should be done about the voting system, too. Panel of judges (for example, the aforementioned trio) could rate all of the entries and their vote should have a bigger impact. Like Formula 1 point system.
Then we have a tie-in between Alec and DH. Let’s predict who wins. First, Alec: a barefooted Gen with an angel’s face and a move similar to Mark’s, if somewhat more flashier. Then, DH: a genetically engineered Rembo with no face. Both entries, in my opinion, need more polish. And the winner? Lutichris! (Didn’t expect that, did you?)
Totally underrated. The amount of “polish” here is staggering. I can only apologize that I didn’t vote for you, because you’ve got balls of steel making something this original. Everyone here more or less tries to put their creativity in LF2 standardized frame. But not you. I encourage you to pursue your own style, like you recently showed in your sprite thread, that you can.
