The BG looks cool, but I felt a tidal wave is coming toward them or something. I don't know, this is how i felt.

When i drawed it and added darker colour,i felt same way.

ACHERONTIC

Throughout history, mankind has wanted to acquire possessions of all kinds. Whether land, money, power, or anything else; the more the merrier. Inevitably, the most powerful will, sooner or later, clash and determine their supreme emperor, ruler of the castle.
Only a single path leads to this palace. A fallen warrior reminds of the atrocities done to those that fail to annex the castle and therefore kill the king. Will this acherontic curse over this place ever be broken?


Width: 1600 pixels

Parallax scrolling: Yes
Other features: The bridge on the right collapses only once as long as LF2 is not restarted

I just tried your background Blue Phoenix, and im thoroughly impressed!
Such nice detail and such good blending between the layers. I wish i had done something to similar effect! (i still have time, right? D: )
That bridge falling and staying almost-permanent i thought was a very nice touch. The subtle animations just add a lovely ambiance to it, and don't distract the player.
I actually thought the sky was 2 layers with some sort of crazy blend technique to make it look 3D. It took some closer looks to figure it out.
I thought that maybe the z-width may be a bit too small, but it's wide enough to show the pretty pictures and have some pretty good battles on.

In BP background everything is epic,i like swinging skeleton,falling bridge,castle,moon,sky,but...
I don't like...(pause)one...thing!!!

I tried to keep the animations to a minimum (and therefore no bg-dependent actions) to not distract from the "boss fight". As for the zwidth, I did some testing and figured that little zwidth makes fights vs. AI (and insofar boss-battles) much harder (as the walk up/down-trick pretty much fails ). Therefore, to have a fight vs. Julian, for example, which is actually a bit more challenging, the zwidth got a bit squeezed

Also, on a related note, the due date is coming fairly close already. I hope you have your BGs pretty much ready?

Damn, amazing work everybody. I feel slightly misplaced here :P

I can tell you guys, being relliant on your university network is awful. Especially if it randomly chooses to block LFE because of 'malware'.
Anyway, at least I got another chance to get here before the deadline.

Still got a small problem with the hand effect. For some reason it would always show up twice the first time. Gotta see if I can fix it.

[Apocalipsis]

The easiest thing about doing the background: spriting it.
The hardest thing: finding time to sprite it.

No, really, I had just 2 or 3 days in wich I really worked on it hard, other days I was occupied with uni's exams -_-

Anyways, we'll probably (...probably) enter with a incomplete but playable version instead, since it seems I won't be able to finish every optional-fancy-thing we had planned for this background :p

Do we have the whole Sunday to work on the background too?

Btw, it's awesome that some many people did a background, we should have a character contest or something o.o
