I have some simple suggestion.
Why you dont put button like next to button thank!!!
Its stuipid when somebody press thank because he like sprite.
Why then we dont press like???

"I thank the poster for helping me out."
"I thank the poster for representing my opinion."
"I thank the poster that he/she has created a sprite that I like."

Multi-purpose thank-button, so to say. Also, I find a like absolutely unnecessary. Not to mention that it reminds me of failbook

That isn't a joke. You're taking this whole "thanking" thing a little too seriously. You can use the thank button for any creative purpose there is... BP's already mentioned most of them.

for gods sake there is really only one meaning to the thank button:
"thank you for this post", whatever it contains
if you want to be more specific because you don't want to be thankful for the whole post then just answer and communicate that

nobody cares about how many people had a certain feeling or thought about a post such as liking/hating/happy/sad/thoughtful/idontevenknow - no need to have a button and yet another row listing members below a post

being thankful is very well a general enough thing to allow some counting and listing of everyone who clicks it
