The attachment-space per user is 10 MB which is, if I remember correctly, a hard limit. Means: The system doesn't allow you to ever go over that value. Additionally, each allowed filetype has a certain upper limit (and this, most likely, triggered this error). Have a look at this baby:

This gives an overview of files that can be uploaded as well as their max-size. Larger files will be auto-declined.
