Ah Sorry

I created a thread for a "test" with intents to delete immediately, but it seems I don't have permission to do so. Some mod delete this thread for me please. Why do I not have permission to delete this?

There have been several cases where people deleted large threads, intentionally as well as unintentionally. In order to counteract this, this was disabled for the general public.

Do something like you can't delete a thread if it exceeds more than 'no. of posts'? You could do the same with thread pages but that could differ from user to user..

In that case, I'd prefer the "# of posts"-version, too. However, when does a thread become so relevant that it has to be conserved. Some threads are important from the first post onwards whereas others gain significance after maybe 100+ posts. Where would one need to place the cutoff?

That's why I'd keep everything as-is.

if possible you could rather count the thread views.
not foolproof, but better than post count i think.

I concur that it should stay the way it is. Not like users will often mistakenly post threads they want deleted immediately, and if they do, the mods can handle that.

What about ability to delete your thread if it has no replies? If it's not much of a hassle, of course. Otherwise, yes, I remember really big popular threads in the past being deleted on a whim because the user decided to leave the forum and take everything with him. So I see why keeping users from deleting their threads has more benefits than problems.
