Game Maker (your experience)
#1
Well I saw some peaple began downloading Game Maker and I just wanted to open this thread.

It asks a simple question: How do you use Game Maker, what version do you use, how did you find it, do you think you are good at Game Maker.

This thread is not to exchange information or asking questions. If you really want that then go to the official LF3D forums and go to the Game Maker forums or GMC.(link to the official LF3D forums can be found in my sig if you can catch it)(if mods want to delete this part then OK)
Age ratings for movies and games (and similar) have never been a good idea.
One can learn a lot from reinventing wheels.
An unsound argument is not the same as an invalid one.
volatile in C++ does not mean thread-safe.
Do not make APIs unnecessarily asynchronous.
Make C++ operator > again
Trump is an idiot.

Hum...

Q1: Mixed up. If it's faster, I use D&D, the complicated stuff of course goes with GML.
Q2: Pro. (I can't stand shareware versions or limits.)
Q3: Long time ago, googled for game making thing and this came up.
Q4: Yes and no. I've created a successful clone/fangame of a game (IWBTG) and everything works pretty well. But I'm not advanced or very experienced with Game Maker, so no.

Also, you might misinterpret the title. I thought you had a question. *editing*

Q1: I just did basic stuff
Q2: Shareware, this was all in school
Q3: Same as Ramond xD, but now I have the Valve Source Engine so I can build 3D games with it :P
Q4: I created little games like Catch The Ball and 4 way soccer

You played I want to be the guy?! That game was sooooo hard, because whenever I got to Mike Tyson my game would break and he would come out of nowhere when he is suppose to be down and kill me... :(

Game maker fails. It's pretty limited and simple.

Well, Evil Sonidow. Game Maker is very very basic and is a lot easier to make games then to take a couple of weeks maybe 4 or 5 to learn C++ then make a game. :|
Ramond yeah I got pretty far, actually I don't know I got to the cemetery then gave up.

Gang Garrison 2 convinced me that Game Maker can do cool things.

That's so far the best thing I've actually seen that used it

also is the means of creating the game more important than the game itself?

Well, at least for me! It is a great waste of time =P
and sometimes it actually becomes something.
IMO it is a good thing to have a user friendly way of making games since you can get results within a very limited amount of time, even if you can't do everything with it.
I just love playing around with the Warcraft III world editor...
