Here are my ideas:
1.Rolling: Crawling, like a REAL scorpion (What I have in mind is something like Venom on Marvel Vs. Capcom)
2."Purple Thing": What about giving his tail a poison element? Maybe, also, the weapon he's carrying? Maybe creating a purple aura, like that of Firzen (face).Ever played Ragnarök On-line? The assassin has a skill like that...If not, check wikipedia if you didn't get it. (My vocab sucks)
3.Liked that older standing, could be used in a running type attack (start or end). Loved the scorpion minions idea.

The purple energy could be a transformation or a combo move with a claw:
