It not the deal with the display, maybe your display is a little too bright. Sorry for sounding so harsh but it's really like that. The contrast between highlights and shadows in the hair is quite low. "Shading" doesn't mean to just add shadows but also add highlights. It'd be much better if there were some golden tones in Deep's hair.

Well I also think you should make the shading more visible, but still it's much better than before.

"Little" is not enough. Spend that extra-minute (took me exactly 60 seconds) to place the highlights. And yes, I brightened up the hair entirely. Looked better to me.

Check >this thread<. I explained the hair-related stuff under steps 12-14. And yes, I did use the almost-gray color.
