8color game contest

hi there
time for the first game contest on lfe!

concept:
create a retro styled game. (quite obvious :P )

rules:

• the game is allowed to use a palette of up to 8 colors
  
• any programming language or game creating program is allowed
  
• music can be more than 8bit
  
• game remakes are allowed, but be sure to make them still interesting
  
• colors from ingame-blurring dont count as new color
  
• you can customize your palette (eg. you can take 8 green-shadings)

Nice idea for a contest, but I have 2 questions:
Any deadline (when should the game be finished)?
And... why only 8 colors? The title says 8bit, under 8bit I understand 2^8 = 256.

i think i will join, i will continue work on my suped-up asteroids. its almost done, just gotta work our levels, game modes, and scoring.
im not sure whether it should have colours, as the classic was just black and white, or green/yellow.

well ill come back to that later...

got the concept of my game now.
the gameplay is comparable to lost vikings: you play the four elements and have to defeat the bad side (nothing specific atm).
each element has own, unique abilities, earth for example can dig special walls, fire can burn enemys and so on...
4 colors will be:
-brown for earth
-red for fire
-blue for water
-some green-tone for wind
-black, white, dark gray, light gray for backgrounds and enemys

edit: gah, screw it again (my game plan, not the contest!). some other plans in minds.

and in case you meant the kind of game: it has to be a game, not a program. everything else is up to you
