@Mgccl, Marti already stated that he doesn't want to make to many changes to LF2. Most of the stuff(everything) you suggested requires almost re-programming LF2 completly to make the changes and I don't think Marti and Starsky want to do that. As Marti said, they haven't touched the source code for ages and don't want to make to many changes since it can cause more bugs.

2. We don't want to continue to develop LF2. we will focus on our new game
I hope people will have less interest on replicating LF2 after our new game is out
They are just too hungry for a new fighting game which can be played online

lf-empire: use the success of LF2 and update it so it's more up-to-date:
1. put commercial in it so you earn money
2. maybe create new stages so it's interesting again for single players
3. update the network-game so its faster

Me: Create LF2 like clone, but online play is better supported(like CS), get enough people to play it, get character design competition and stuff... Profit... use the profit to make the game even better...

Can you ask Marti one more question...
Would he mind if I create a LF2 clone, which will use his sprites? Of course there will be attributions and other stuff.
