That's your problem. Try changing next: 1000 into something else.

And would you mind changing the title? That "<solved>" could lead to some misunderstanding issue (I almost by pass your thread)

that's just the explosion, not the char itselfe, so the next: 1000 is fine, 'cuz the explosion shouldn't stay there forever...

in your explosion data, everywhere you see state: 18, change it to state: 15

Check your attack's sprite, pic number, col and row value, oid to see if anything went wrong.

If you still can't solve the problem using those suggestion, post the char's attack frames' codes and the ball(s) codes.

See that bold part over there? That's the state. Each state have a different function. The one in this example can make all itr attack both friendly and hostile chars (for more on the subject, check out mainsite).

actually your first data set might work, i.e. use state: 18 in the frames, but in the itr use effect: 22 (if i'm right this is firen's explosion attack effect).
i wonder if that HELP shadow thing is done through data. lots of effort if it is
