Alectric's later sprites
#81
Dude Gordon is great (was hoping u'd do hf instead of half-life 2) his face is too dark but it has been already shown to be dark...
the Zombie looks epic man...kinda confused about the head though... O.o too much hair?
The soldier guy looks pretty good though the pants and shoes are proportionally weird along with shading though mask is fine, idk why snorsorbet thinks it's a bit off...it's ok too me ;)

Hmm... I think I know why now that I actually lift my lazy butt to do some (google) research ;D

Combine (Metrocop?) (Click to View)
As you can see, the party around the eyes is darker shaded, the eyeholes look pretty sorrow and are nearly black, and the gas filter is more vertical giving him more the look of a scarecrow.

Don't get me wrong though. I love your sprites, that's why I put a (relatively) big effort into reviewing them because I can't wait to see your sprites in the future ;D

Some critic:

Great sprites from hl, but...
Totallllllyyyy over 9000 out of lf2 style.
1. Don't use gradient, instead of it use higher contrast between brighter and darker colour.
2. Too (motha f*****) thin legs in zombie sprites.
3. Wtf with mc mask? No connection with lf2.
4. Gordon's face is tooooo way bold, eyes are too small and glasses are bolding.

Rly dudes, use real lf2 base, or even very simillar, cause ur proportions aren't same.
I like your spriting etc, but those are not lf2 sprites anymore. Primary lf2 sprites don't have any gradients, the coulours are sharp contrasted (they are only 2 (sometimes 3) coulours for shading) and I guess they were not made in auto bluring photoshop, but in vector designer.

Anyway, it's just mine opinion, that's what I see. You may think i'm incorrect. Cause I am probably in your eyes.

By the way offtopic:
I have photoshop now. Spriting there is so easy and different. I still pefer gimp, cause i'm new in ps, i don't like the interface, it's too easy and it's expensive over 9000.

thanks for the comments guys.
@Snor, im still not exactly sure what you mean. i put my sprite next to the big image, and the only differences i could see is that there were darker colours in the image than the sprite.

@Gad, thanks for the critique. I prefer not to use lf2 bases, because i think the proportions of them are wrong. And they werent intended to be strict lf2 style, like most of my sprites. But yeah, the zombie legs are too thin, as well as gordons face and feet being messed up.
but i dont get number 3." MC mask? no connection to lf2" well, that's coz he is from half life 2...? wut...

Ack, a part of me knew that I formulated myself as clear as ol' grandpa talking about the wonderful trees of his youth while nagging about his hard crossword, and yet I didn't do anything about it >_>

Anyway, maybe a picture may help ;D

And yes. I recreated Alectrics version in a more rushed fashion than the original. But that's not the point

1: The fact that the eyes are big isn't the problem, it's the way the eyes are shaped. The original eyes look more melancholic and 'schadenfreudous', don't they?

2: The party around the eyes is deeper shaded in the original version.

3: The lower gas filter is tilted much downwards in the original version, giving him the look of a scarecrow.

These points combined make his mask look pretty harmless.
Regarding the line in the middle of the face, I don't object to it, because it looks right together with the rest of the face.

Do you understand now? If not, I really deserve a slap ;D

Hey Aletric that looks pretty nice and well detailed.
Why didn't you make the crossbow on the yellow guy yellow.
The minimized version looks a bit worse, but the bigger version is better.
Also can you do a CHocobo Knight.

Because they look like ducks a bit and I know that's not a human but a moogle.
I am back, not really.
