read/unread forum posts
#1
duno if this is a bug or website improvement, but i'm really pissed by the colored and uncolored bandit forum icons (read, unread) cause they really don't work

for example, i open sprites, which has the uncolored bandit, and there's 5 threads with new posts...

but it's not a too big deal, just really annoying

edit: or have i completely misunderstood the read/unread thing?

It's most likely a bug, but if you are so bugged with it (no pun intended >_<) just click the bandit and the red will disappear ;P

EDIT: Also, this happens to me too.

I experienced it too, but in quite the opposite way than Wiro:
In my case, the Bandit stays colored even when I check all the unread threads.
...
But don't take this as whining, because it most certainly is not :D

If im not wrong then the bandit symbolises new posts.
Not whether the forum is read/unread.
But clicking it marks the forum as read as well as removing the color.
But still its weird.

oh and the thingy about the bandit staying red is because there was a post in a subforum. That's why it stays red, don't know how to fix it though..

if you read all new posts in a forum / subforums the bandit turn grey

or:

click on it so the forum is "done" for you - that`s no bug

Yeh, the usual forum awkwardnesses. In order to avoid skipping of any new posts, here's a small guide on how to do this:

The situation: There is a new post in Hex (2.0) > Tutorials
• You read the new post; as usually
• When you go back to the index-page, the bandit should remain colored.
• Now here's the thing: it might happen that a new post has already been added now. That why I, personally, refrain from clicking the bandit too often. Instead, I go back into the Hex (2.0) Forum again. Check if there are any unread threads/posts in the forum as well as in the subforum (for whatever reason, the bandits in there work properly).
• Go back to the index-page and see how the bandits have turned gray.

Yes, this is a little less convenient but so far, it has never disappointed me. It is up to you on how you do it ;)

it also happens if you read all posts in a thread, go back (via browser) and don't refresh the page.

@below: just wanted to point that out incase someone does not know what cache is :D
