I really like this design. The one with the suit doesn't look really great, because the grey makes the sprite look a bit boring.
In fact, you could keep the red colour of the original bandit, and make a transformation move for bandit where he gets out a knife and pulls on a bandanna over his mouth.
Man, that'd be cool :D

New sprite: I'm using a selfmade method of hair spriting: Davis style (if you look closely, you can see that his hair is not antialiased at all like the others.

Sorry for 2x post, but the method of spriting in 158x158 (and resizing it back in 79) is very effective indeed. I'd recommend it to everyone.
Here's some examples (I've only done that to the hair, but it turns out great):


And yes I WILL try that to the other parts too. Try it. I use photofiltre and it works exactly fine - and kinda fun .
btw thanks to Alectric for his hair tutorial. It helps me too.

Nicely detailed, but too bright in the front. It should be about the same color all over.

It doesn't look very good to me, imo it should be longer on the top.

Now I know the head looks weird and all that, but it's my first attempt of overdrawing a pose.

To me the hair looks pretty fine.
Kinda reworked the Greek soldier. Looks better imo.
